Wednesday, February 26th 

- we worked with Ms Wajda in Social today.  We are working on thinking like historians while reading legends from Indigenous culture and taking nots about what we noticed in the stories
- we all got Subtraction booklets from Ms Blanchard today where we can practice our strategies
- we talked about ways to prevent bullying
- Friday we will meet with our Buddies
- Opera Assembly Friday at 10:00am

Tuesday, February 25th 

Pink Shirt Day Tomorrow (Wednesday, February 26th)

Ms Vroom will be collecting names for the Math contest tomorrow

Addition and Subtraction QUIZ next Thursday, March 5th

February 24th- 28th 

This week we will be learning:

Literacy: Guided Reading with Ms Vroom and Ms Blanchard, literacy centres (non fiction comprehension, reading responses making connections and predictions to just right books, visiting the learning commons, spelling and cursive writing), read aloud of Wonder and making connections to bullying 

Math: Subtraction and finding personal subtraction strategies

Science:  we will watch a video about light and shadow and complete a reading comprehension activity, we will have a unit quiz on light and shadow in the next two weeks 

Social Studies: We read "I am Not a Number" on Friday followed by a discussion on residential schools.  We will start to learn about the history of Alberta with Ms Wajda on Monday.

Health: More lessons and discussions about anti- bullying.  We talked about the types of bullying last week.  Next week we will talk about some scenarios and how we can prevent bullying.  Pink Shirt Day is on Wednesday, February 26th.

Skiing Tuesday, February 25th

Wednesday, February 19th 

Important for skiing tomorrow, Thursday February 20th: The expected temperature for tomorrow will be warmer (-6 in the morning warming up to 5 in the afternoon).  The ski hill wanted us to know that if students are going to take off their coats as the weather gets warmer, they MUST have a LONG sleeved shirt on!

Math Contest information:- Grade 4 students have the opportunity to participate in the Calgary Elementary School Mathematics Contest. This contest will take place at school on Wednesday April 22nd. Past contests can be found at http://blogs.mtroyal.ca/cesmc/sample-test/ for students to look through.  I will be speaking to the class more about this on Friday.  

- We met with the Opera composer today and heard some music for the Opera 
- We had a very interesting discussion about Bullying today, the students were eager to share personal experiences and we will be working on scenarios and how to prevent bullying in the next few weeks 
- we used MATH PRODGY today and loved it!!!

Social Studies:  More Blackfoot research on ipads and computers, we will continue to read aloud Buffalo Hunt 

Math:  Groundhog Day Mystery Math (multiplication, addition, fractions, division and rounding)

Skiing on Thursday.  Students need to be IN the classroom at 9:00am
