Thursday, January 30th 

No school tomorrow, Friday January 31st 

Reminder!  We have our first day of Skiing and Boarding next Thursday, February 6th!

Students will need:

- snow pants and jacket

- a helmet (can be rented at the hill)

- water proof warm gloves

- a neck warmer

- goggles 

- a lunch 

** NO food will be able to be purchased on the hill 

January 27th to 30th 

 This week we are learning:

Language Arts:  Continuing work on antonyms, new spelling words home Monday, reading wonder and talking about character perspective

French: colours and numbers

Mathematics: addition strategies

Science:  We enjoyed a presentation about prisms and refraction today, we will be doing light and shadow centres on Wednesday

Social Studies: we will continue to research the Blackfoot people with computers

NO school Friday

First day of Skiing Next Thursday, February 6th  - please make sure students have all of the gear they need:  snow pants and jacket, water proof gloves, goggles, a helmet if you have one (can be rented on the hill), a neck warmer.

Thursday, January 23rd

- we are going to our SIT SPOT tomorrow in the Hawkwood Community Garden!  Dress warmly, bring snow pants! 

Tuesday, January 21st

- Mobile Escape Room Tomorrow for our class at 12:40- 2:10pm so our class will be eating lunch early, at 12:10pm.
- book orders due tomorrow

Week of January 20- 24th 

This week we will:

Language Arts:  Synonyms and Antonyms, we did another Edmonton Spelling test, so we will have new spelling groups next week, continuing to read Wonder and talk about Kindness

Science:  We did an experiment on shadows, we will make sundials on Tuesday, Mobile Escape Room Wednesday.

Social:  Research on The Blackfoot people.  Ask me what a Travois is. 

Math:  Rounding to the thousands, addition and subtraction strategies. 

Reminders:

We will be outside to complete a sundial activity tomorrow (Tuesday).  Please have appropriate clothing. 

We will be going on a community walk on Friday to our sit spot.  

Friday, January 17th 

We survived the week of indoor recess and lunch!  Thank you to all students and families for being amazing this week and continuing to focus on your school work!

Week of January 13-  17th 2020

This week we will be learning:

Language Arts: Compound words, new spelling words home Monday, continue reading Wonder.

Social Studies:  Continue reading "Buffalo Hunt" and our research about the Blackfoot.

Science:  We will learn more light and shadow vocabulary including transparent, translucent and opaque.  We will have a special guest in to talk about the eye and eye safety.

Mathematics:  We are learning rounding to the nearest tens, hundreds or thousands and then learning to estimate our sums.

French:  La Salle de Classe.

Friday, January 10th 

- we started a guided art project of a moose today
- we continued reading Wonder.  Students are welcome to bring in their own copy to follow along. 
- practice addition and subtraction with regrouping this weekend
- all forms due next week

Thursday, January 9th

- ask me to name items that are Artificial and Natural sources of light
- practice addition and subtraction of 3 and 4 digit numbers

Welcome Back 

January 7- 10th 2020

This week we will be:

Language Arts: New spelling words home on Tuesday, we are starting a new novel called Wonder (if you want to bring in a copy to follow along, you can).

Mathematics: We will be starting addition and subtraction.

Social Studies: We will continue to learn about buffalo and begin research on the Blackfoot People.  

Science: We started our new unit on Light and Shadow.  We will learn key vocabulary terms this week.

French: We completed our Janvier calendar, this month we will learn about school supplies and things in the classroom.  

Other Reminders:
- return ski forms
- bring headphones for computers.  We will need them to do research this week!
